August 19, 2008 Band of Knights, I want to wish you guys the best of luck this season. I can't tell you how much I have enjoyed writing for you this season. I know I'm not "tied" to the Band of Knights the same way I have been for the last 5 years but I'm thrilled to have found a way to remain connected. My face will not be seen around the practice field, the stadium, or loading buses for competition day, but I hope that you all still think about me every now and then. Mr. Underwood can tell you that I constantly talk about missing all of you. I'm having a great time in Texas. CSO school is extremely challenging and there are plenty of long days. I thought I would feel like I was in college again but I was wrong... it is much more demanding than that. It is looking as though I won't be able to come home through the fall, but Mr. Underwood has assured me he will keep me posted and send me shows every now and then. I hear that everything is going well so far (not that I would expect any different from the best band in the country). Keep up the good work and I can't wait to hear the show for the first time. Please keep me "in the family" and I look forward to seeing you all over the Christmas break. Thank you for your hard work. We got a lot accomplished and are well on our way to a wonderful season. For all future sectionals in addition to you and your instrument please bring: 1. All music (even if you think you have it memorized); 2. Pencil(s); 3. Drill; 4. Extra reeds; 5. Fingering chart (can find these free on the internet if you don’t have one); 6. Bottled water; and 7. A positive working attitude. I am looking forward to a great year. See you at the next rehearsal. Beverly |
